- The foveal depression is lost and replaced by large central intraretinal cystoid spaces. Numerous hyperreflective foci in the outer retina, consistent with hard exudates, cast posterior shadows. Subretinal fluid extends beneath the fovea. The inner retinal surface is irregular, and the outer retinal bands are poorly defined in the subfoveal region.
