Retinal Hemangioblastoma - RG
Oct 11 2026 by César Adrián Gómez Valdivia, MD
A markedly dilated and tortuous pair of retinal vessels arises from the optic disc and courses along the temporal arcades, converging on an elevated orange-red lesion in the temporal periphery. The lesion is surrounded by fibroglial tissue with preretinal traction. Lipid exudates are present in the macula and along the inferotemporal arcade. Pigmented chorioretinal scars from prior treatment are seen temporal to the macula and in the mid-periphery.

Retinal Hemangioblastoma - FA
Oct 11 2026 by César Adrián Gómez Valdivia, MD
The dilated superotemporal artery fills rapidly in the earliest frames, while the tortuous inferotemporal vein shows delayed laminar filling. The temporal peripheral lesion demonstrates intense early hyperfluorescence with progressive leakage that obscures its margins by one minute. Hypofluorescent areas with hyperfluorescent borders correspond to the chorioretinal scars. A round hyperfluorescent focus temporal to the fovea increases in intensity throughout the sequence.

Retinal Hemangioblastoma - Raster OCT
Oct 11 2026 by César Adrián Gómez Valdivia, MD
The infrared reference image shows a round, dark, well-circumscribed lesion temporal to the macula, about 5 mm from the fovea. The B-scan through it reveals a dome-shaped elevation of the inner retina with a hyperreflective surface and dense posterior shadowing. The adjacent retina shows intraretinal cystoid spaces, hyperreflective foci consistent with hard exudates, and subretinal fluid.

Retinal Hemangioblastoma - Macular OCT
Oct 11 2026 by César Adrián Gómez Valdivia, MD
The foveal depression is lost and replaced by large central intraretinal cystoid spaces. Numerous hyperreflective foci in the outer retina, consistent with hard exudates, cast posterior shadows. Subretinal fluid extends beneath the fovea. The inner retinal surface is irregular, and the outer retinal bands are poorly defined in the subfoveal region.
