    36-year-old white male presented with non traumatic retinal detachment OD, with six very distinct demarcation lines and isolated tear, and detachment parameters. Patient underwent PPV OD on 12/3/13 with 20% SF6 gas placement and face down in his first 1 month post op period.

    47-year-old woman underwent vitrectomy and silicone oil tampoande for tractional retinal detachment due to proliferative diabetic retinopathy. 8 months after silicone oil tamponade, silicone oil was emulsified. And emulsified silicone oil was observed at anterior chamber.

  • Epiretinal Membrane

    This is a patient with idiopathic panuveitis who developed a visually significant epiretinal membrane. Pars plana vitrectomy with membrane peeling was performed to remove the epiretinal proliferation. I recommend magnifying the image to see the exquisite detail centrally.

  • Fungal Endophthalmitis Associated With Intravenous Drug Abuse

    Fundus photograph of a 20-year-old male with pain and decreased vision OS for 3 days. His visual acuity was counting fingers and he had conjunctival injection, anterior chamber cells and vitreous cells. He admitted to intermittent use of intravenous heroin. A vitrectomy was performed and cultures were positive for candida albicans.

    Patient was seen for acute vision loss in the right eye. Patient has glaucoma. VA was 20/70 in the right eye. Had vitrectomy back in May 2012 for ERM stripping. Also had trabectome with cataract surgery in December of 2012. Fundus photos presents a superior peripapillary Hemorrhage of the optic nerve. Patient will be followed up in one month.

  • Retinal Detachment Repair With Silicone Oil and Scleral Buckle, Fourteen Years Later, With Visual Acuity of 20/25

    65-year-old woman s/p scleral buckle 14 years ago. Two weeks later, the retina re-detached, and vitrectomy, laser, and silicone oil procedure was performed. Patient remains 20/25 with correction fourteen years later. The cornea is clear, there is no oil emulsification, and there is a stable, moderately inferiorly subluxated PCIOL (as it was prior to RD surgery). IOP is 17 on Cosopt BID.

  • Starfold in Proliferative Vitreoretinopathy

    This patient underwent repair of a rupture globe, extraction of an intraocular foreign body, vitrectomy, laser, and silicone oil placement. When he returned for follow up, he was noted to have a recurrent shallow retinal detachment under the silicone oil, with a prominent star fold at the inferior temporal arcade.

Patient came in with another retinal detachment with dislocated PC IOL lens. Notice the haptics tearing the retina. Patient underwent vitrectomy with gas exchange. VA was hand motion 1 day post-op.
