Right eye of a 19-year-old immunocompetent gentleman with bilateral retinal abscesses and hemorrhages 4 weeks following treatment for meningitis.There was complete resolution with oral levofloxacin alone without any intraocular intervention.

Fundus photograph of a 20-year-old male with pain and decreased vision OS for 3 days. His visual acuity was counting fingers and he had conjunctival injection, anterior chamber cells and vitreous cells. He admitted to intermittent use of intravenous heroin. A vitrectomy was performed and cultures were positive for candida albicans.

Optic Atrophy and Attenuated Retinal Vessels Following Endophthalmitis

This elderly lady underwent a vitrectomy for post-surgical endophthalmitis. The infection was successfully treated but the functional outcome was poor because of optic atrophy and attenuated retinal vessels.

Anterior segment examination revealed a self sealing peripheral corneal wound at the 7:30 position with iris defect. There was a small hypopyon layering in the inferior angle. CT scan revealed a small intra-ocular foreign body.

Tubercular choroidal granuloma

Fundus photograph of the right eye of a 26-year-old gentleman presenting with submacular abscess. A diagnosis of endogenous endophthalmitis was made and he was placed on oral levofloxacin. Vitreous tap was negative on microbiology exam; intravitreal vancomycin and ceftazidime were injected. There was initial response but appearance of several new choroidal granulomas in the midperiphery after 3 weeks. Antitubercular therapy was then initiated.
