Subluxated Sulcus IOL With Small AC Bubble

Anterior segment photograph of 71-year-old woman with 1-piece soft IOL decentered nasally with the haptics in the ciliary sulcus. A small area of the capsule remnant is evident suprotemporally. Small gas bubble in the AC is evident two weeks after PPV. The vitreous gas bubble decentered this IOL, with some spontaneous improvement of the IOL centering after gas dissipation.

Cataract Surgery Complications

57-year-old male patient who underwent phacoemulsification. Pre-op vision was 20/70. Complicated surgery. With vitreous loSS, cataract surgeon decided to place the foldable intraocular lens in the AC. Presented in the clinic with a vision of hand movement, with intra-ocular preSSure of 65 mmHg. He was managed by the same surgeon who gave Cosopt TID, and Alphagan QID.

A 58-year-old female presented with chronic uveitis due to inadvertent placement of temporal haptics of a one-piece acrylic lens (Restor, Alcon) in the sulcus. Extensive loss of iris pigment causing transillumination defect and visibility of the offending haptic are evident in this photograph.

The eye is an organ with 3 layers (from the outermost to the innermost): fibrous layer (sclera and cornea), uveal tract (iris, ciliary body, and choroid), and retina. The lens divides the eye into the aqueous chamber (filled with aqueous humor) and vitreous chamber (filled with vitreous humor). The iris divides the aqueous chamber into anterior and posterior chambers. This image illustrates the aqueous chamber (1), posterior chamber (2), and vitreous chamber (3).
