- retained green mersilene suture, subretinal
- Description
- This 62-year-old dentist had had three retinal operations including an encircling polyethylene tube with silicone implant in 1962 and the removal of these elements 11 years later. This slide shows a retained green Mersilene suture which had been placed in the sclera more than 19 years before. It had slowly eroded inward and become subretinal. The retina is attached and the vision is 20/70.
