- Description
- A 57 year-old female presented with blurring of distant vision for past 2 months. The color fundus photography of her RE reveals abnormal foveal reflex. The macular area appears to be greyish, with central large cystic space surrounded by multiple small cystic spaces arranged in radial pattern. This pattern is influenced by the arrangement of Henle's fiber layer in which the fluid accumulates because of the breakdown in the blood retinal barrier. This anatomical configuration leads to the characteristic honeycomb appearance in cystoid macular edema.
