Case of macular BRVO in a 50-year-old female on medication for systemic hypertension for the past 2 months. Color fundus photo of her right eye shows multiple superficial flame shaped hemorrhages within the arcade, along the infero-temporal region. Macula also shows a central yellow spot, which is a nonspecific sign of abnormal foveolar architecture. This could be due to sub-foveal fluid causing foveal elevation or vitreo-foveal traction. OCT shows multiple intra-retinal cystic spaces with hyper-reflective dots along with sub-retinal fluid.

A 57 year-old female presented with blurring of distant vision for past 2 months. The color fundus photography of her RE reveals abnormal foveal reflex. The macular area appears to be greyish, with central large cystic space surrounded by multiple small cystic spaces arranged in radial pattern. This pattern is influenced by the arrangement of Henle's fiber layer in which the fluid accumulates because of the breakdown in the blood retinal barrier. This anatomical configuration leads to the characteristic honeycomb appearance in cystoid macular edema.
