  • Ciloretinal Artery Occlusion - RG

Sep 29 2026 by César Adrián Gómez Valdivia, MD

Widefield color fundus photograph (Clarus, Zeiss) of the left eye showing a well-demarcated, wedge-shaped area of retinal whitening (ischemic edema) adjacent to the optic disc, following the distribution of the cilioretinal artery. The remaining retinal vasculature and posterior pole appear otherwise unremarkable. Findings are consistent with an acute cilioretinal artery occlusion.

  • Ciloretinal Artery Occlusion - OCT

Sep 29 2026 by César Adrián Gómez Valdivia, MD

Horizontal OCT B-scan through the optic disc showing focal thickening and hyperreflectivity of the inner retinal layers with posterior shadowing, corresponding to the area of ischemic retinal whitening seen clinically. The outer retinal layers and RPE remain relatively preserved. Appearance is consistent with acute inner retinal ischemia from cilioretinal artery occlusion.

  • Ciloretinal Artery Occlusion - FA

Sep 29 2026 by César Adrián Gómez Valdivia, MD

Widefield fluorescein angiogram (Clarus, Zeiss) of the left eye showing delayed/absent filling of the cilioretinal artery with a corresponding hypofluorescent wedge-shaped area adjacent to the disc. Delayed filling is also noted in the inferotemporal retinal arterial branch. Findings support the diagnosis of cilioretinal artery occlusion with associated inferotemporal arterial filling delay.
