  • Pericentral Retinitis Pigmentosa - RG

Sep 29 2026 by César Adrián Gómez Valdivia, MD

Widefield color fundus photograph (Clarus, Zeiss) of the right eye showing a pericentral band of retinal pigment epithelium mottling and scattered bone-spicule-like pigment clumping surrounding the posterior pole, with relative sparing of the far periphery. The optic disc and retinal vasculature appear normal in caliber.

  • Pericentral Retinitis Pigmentosa - FAF

Sep 29 2026 by César Adrián Gómez Valdivia, MD

Fundus autofluorescence image (Clarus, Zeiss) of the right eye showing a well-defined parafoveal hyperautofluorescent ring encircling a relatively preserved central macula, surrounded by an annular zone of mottled hypo- and hyperautofluorescence corresponding to pericentral pigmentary degeneration. The far periphery is relatively spared.

  • Pericentral Retinitis Pigmentosa - Ultra-Wide-FAF

Sep 29 2026 by César Adrián Gómez Valdivia, MD

Ultra-widefield autofluorescence image of the right eye demonstrating an oval, pericentral zone of mottled hypo- and hyperautofluorescence encircling the macula, with a discrete hyperautofluorescent ring at its inner border and relative preservation of both the central macula and far peripheral retina. Findings support a pericentral pattern of retinal degeneration.

  • Pericentral Retinitis Pigmentosa - OCT

Sep 29 2026 by César Adrián Gómez Valdivia, MD

Horizontal macular OCT B-scan of the right eye showing preservation of the foveal contour and ellipsoid zone centrally, with progressive perifoveal attenuation and loss of the ellipsoid and interdigitation zones extending toward the pericentral retina. Outer nuclear layer thinning is noted outside the fovea, consistent with pericentral photoreceptor degeneration.

  • Pericentral Retinitis Pigmentosa - Visual-Field

Sep 29 2026 by César Adrián Gómez Valdivia, MD

Goldmann kinetic perimetry of the right eye demonstrating a dense annular (ring) scotoma affecting the mid-peripheral field, with a relatively preserved central island and residual peripheral isopters (III4e and II4e). This ring-scotoma pattern is characteristic of pericentral retinitis pigmentosa.
