Thomas A. Ciulla, MD, MBA, FASRS » Laser Pointer Injury to Fovea

An 11 year boy stared at a laser pointer and later noted a central scotoma from the left eye. Two weeks later, visual acuity measured 20/30 and macular exam was normal. However, OCT revealed disruption of the IS/OS line subfoveally. Six weeks later, symptoms had nearly resolved and visual acuity improved to 20/20. OCT showed reformation of the IS/OS line subfoveally with some minor irregularity.
