Maurice F. Rabb » NonSpecific Old Chorioretinetic Scars

Color views of the right posterior pole reveal an apparent normal disc and normal retinal vasculature. The right macular region also appears to be within normal limits.

Color views of the left posterior pole reveal 360 degrees of peripapillary dense pigmentation. There is an elevated whitish lesion superior to the left disc. The left macular region appears to have a great deal of mottling of the pigment epithelium. Inferior to the left disc are two areas of old dense pigmentation which appears to be old chorioretinetic scars.

Fluorescein dye transit through the left eye reveals vast changes in the retinal pigment epithelium in the posterior pole including the macular region. There is a large area of hypofluorescence surrounding the disc representing dense pigmentation. Superior to the disc is an area of hyperfluorescence which may be subretinal neovascularization under the old fibrovascular scar. In the late venous phase there is hyperfluorescence of the entire fibrovascular scar superior the left disc.
