LB is a 41 year old black male who on 4/6/93 was seen with a complaint of fluctuating vision and temporal visual field loss in the left eye. He had no other neurologic complaints. His past medical history revealed hypertension and depression. He had a history of Bell's Palsy 12 years ago; otherwise he was in good health. His visual acuity on the right was 20/25 and on the left finger counting. He had a left afferent pupillary defect and intraocular pressures were normal. Goldmann visual field on the right was full. On the left, he had a large peracentral scotoma, which was very dense. External exam showed no proptosis. Slitlamp examination as normal. The right fundus is normal, the left fundus is shown in the photographs.
