This 38 year old female was first seen by me in 1988 with a history of "optic neuritis" in the left eye, diagnosed in 1971. Over the years she had been seen at the Wilmer Institute, Ohio State University, Kansas City, and other places. She was intermittently treated with systemic Prednisone, but it was unclear if this affected the course of the disease. Her past medical history was completely normal.
The patient has been followed over the years since then. There has been no change in the appearance of the right eye or the left eye. When last seen 8-3-00, vision in the right eye was 20/20 and the left eye 20/60. There were still small scars inferiorly in the right eye. In the left eye the appearance was unchanged Goldmann field in the left eye showed severe constriction down to less than 5 degree. In the right eye, the field was full, except for a small area supernasal of variable response.

Patient diagnosed with optic neuritis in both eyes. It is considered that the patient may have undergone a microfilial chorioretinitis in both eyes. The was referred for electro-physiologic tests and to the department of parasitology for further investigation, however left the country and prior to testing.
