This case is that of a 61 year old woman with a complicated history including bona fide lupus erythematosus (23 years), Raynaud's syndrome, Graves' ophthalmopathy (38 years), past orbital radiation (13 years ago, dosage unknown), systemic hypertension, pancreatitis, pseudophakos OS, and chronic (5 years) marked cystoid macular edema arising primarily from the deep circulation of the retina which has significantly compromised her vision, and a tendency to develop adverse consequences from drug therapy (e.g. osteoporosis from systemic corticosteroids, glaucoma from topical corticosteroids).
